The scorching Atlanta heat did not deter the enthusiastic participants who gathered for the first annual Perfectly Imperfect Golf Tournament. This event, organized by Santia Deck and Shea Stanley, the co-founders of the Perfectly Imperfect organization, aimed to impact the youth positively by nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs through real estate, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. With a wide range of activities and vendors, the day proved to be an enjoyable and empowering experience for all.

The event’s turnout was nothing short of amazing, a true testament to the growing support for Perfectly Imperfect’s mission of providing kids with the necessary tools to be able to go out into the world and be productive citizens while also making an impact.

“We just really wanted to get our name out there and I have a lot of friends that we know love golf,” says Santia Deck. “We know it’s a good way to network. It’s beautiful out, it’s peaceful and we couldn’t think of a better way for us to be able to come and share this wonderful experience.”

As the tournament progressed, it became evident that golf provided an excellent platform for networking and relaxation. Golfers of all skill levels embraced the opportunity to showcase their talents and connect with like-minded individuals, setting the stage for future collaborations and partnerships.

Apart from the golfing competitions, Perfectly Imperfect went above and beyond to ensure a well-rounded experience for attendees. Deron Ownes, a certified golf teaching professional, offered driving range lessons, allowing participants to refine their skills under expert guidance. Such initiatives showcase the organization’s commitment to nurturing talents and providing valuable learning opportunities.

The Perfectly Imperfect organization also supported black-owned small businesses, showcasing a range of remarkable vendors at the event. From tequila brand, Talero to Ché René’s French Macarons, Maison Jouvence Candles, and Cherish Perkins LLC, the lodge was filled with a vibrant array of products and services. This support for small businesses demonstrates the organization’s dedication to fostering economic growth within the community and empowering entrepreneurs to thrive.

The day’s highlights included an engaging putting contest, a challenging 18-hole tournament, and two exciting hole-in-one competitions. Participants were vying for the chance to win a trip to Hawaii or a golf ball launcher with a gift certificate.

One heartwarming moment of the day was when Shea introduced her son, Darrien, who exemplified a first-hand, success story nurtured by the organization.

“The importance of teaching the kids financial literacy, entrepreneurship, home ownership, overall generational wealth building is so near and dear to my heart!” says Shea Stanley.

Darrien’s entrepreneurial journey, reselling electronics on eBay and Amazon under his own LLC, Innovative Electronics, which has already become a lucrative endeavor just this year alone. Perfectly Imperfect, along with lessons he’s learned from his older brother, Deron S., Founder of iSmoke & More LLC, has instilled confidence and independence in Darrien, allowing him to flourish in his business journey and beyond.

The success of the first annual Perfectly Imperfect Golf Tournament is a testament to the dedication of the organizers and the support of the community. By combining leisure with impactful initiatives, Perfectly Imperfect has shown that fostering youth empowerment can be both enjoyable and rewarding.

As we look forward to the next tournament and future endeavors by Perfectly Imperfect, we must celebrate the achievements of this organization in building a brighter and more prosperous future for the next generation. Through their efforts in real estate, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, they are equipping young minds with the necessary tools to become not only productive citizens but also change-makers who will leave a positive impact on the world.
