Q: You represent the Latina community so passionately. What does it mean to you to be a Latina makeup artist?

A: For me being Latina is me being proud of my family and the place where I was born. Having a sense of education, passion and commitment is what being a Latina means to me. It also means being my own competition. I have no time to compete with another person. The power of God inside of me is also very bright and I feel I have to share that with people. That’s the main focus of my career and I’m very thankful for that.

Q: What would you say separates yourself from other makeup artists in the industry?

A: I think the difference that I have is the light of God that I have inside of me. I do makeup because I love to do makeup but I know I have a purpose to help women improve their self esteem. For example, women suffering abuse and teenagers with low self esteem are who I serve. I use makeup as a tool to help people improve themselves.

Q: What is one misconception about the beauty industry that you would like to shed light on?

A: I think people don’t understand that we invest a lot of money in our products. People are always asking for a cheaper price and they don’t realize that we have to invest in our education, tools, travel, everything that we use to do a home service, etc. I think that’s the worst part for us.

Q: What is your biggest dream for your career?

A: For me, it’s very important to shine from the inside to be healthy on the inside first because makeup is just makeup and you can wash your face and still be suffering on the inside. In the future, I would like to have my own brand of highlighters because when do you work on  the inside, you’ll then shine bright outside. My dream client is Jennifer Lopez!

Q: What is your biggest motivator right now?

A: My family. They are my everything. I do everything for them. Where I’m from in Venezuela, we have a dictator system. We don’t have [opportunities] like in this country. So I work hard everyday thinking about my family. It makes me want to cry. I know that they feel proud of me and they tell me every day that they know I’m working hard for them. Of course I know they want to be with me but understand that they can’t right now. I love them all.
