This season’s catwalks were full of long dress variations: the return of the 1990s signature cowl-neck long dress, the arrival of a sportswear silhouette with a polo neck, and the stainless steel bohemian model sublimated in sheer lace.
The long cowl-neck dress: The most retro of all
An icon of the 1990s, the cowl-neck dress, inspired by the drapery of ancient Greece and featuring a more or less plunging, flowing neckline, is making a comeback this season. Popularised by the likes of Kate Moss, Sofia Coppola and Gwyneth Paltrow this silhouette was seen on the catwalks of the Atlein and Acne Studios shows.
The bohemian maxi dress: the sunniest of all
This will undoubtedly be the star trend of Spring-Summer 2025, thanks to Chemena Kamali for Chloé, who made a strong impression by reviving the phenomenon on the catwalk for her first shows for the house. Sharon Tate ‘s lace dresses and paisley headbands are our inspiration for a summer of freedom.
The immaculate long dress: The most versatile of all
It’s out with the black dress. This summer, the immaculate version is gaining ground as a must-have for every woman’s wardrobe. With this in mind, fashion houses and designers have decided to revisit it from every angle for spring-summer 2025: sheer, with silky details, in bohemian inflections to match the boho-chic trend, or with baby doll accents like Jacquemus.
