Taraji P. Henson made a vibrant arrival to Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” wearing a checkered Christopher John Rogers dress. Henson’s color-blocked dress featured one panel in white and another in blue; both were covered in squares throughout. For even more contrast, the actress added a pair of black-and-white Christian Louboutin boots.
When it comes to her style, Henson usually works with the duo Wayman and Micah on her outfits, whose clients include Jodie Turner-Smith, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Regina King.
Tuesday marked Henson’s 14th appearance on the night show and was filmed on the same day as the Broadway opening night of “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” in which Henson sits as a producer.
“What struck me as most interesting is these women who are literally like hidden figures. They work in these braiding salons in fear of being deported every day,” Henson told Fallon about the play.
Written by Jocelyn Bioh and executive produced by Barry Grove, “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding” is now playing at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York City.
Along with her latest production credit, Henson is preparing to appear on the screen in the upcoming film “The Color Purple,” which is set to premiere in theaters on Christmas Day. The latest musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel also stars songstress Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks and Halle Bailey.
