Serena Williams glittered in a black Thom Browne gown on the 2023 CFDA Awards red carpet on Monday in New York. The dress was covered with black sequins and featured a sweetheart neckline, ruching around the skirt and a long train.
Voluminous puff sleeves made of shiny black fabric with dangly crystal added a dramatic touch to her look.
Williams paired the gown with a necklace of diamond flowers and diamond-and-pearl drop earrings, both from David Yurman, and her hair back in a low braid wrapped in a red, white and blue ribbon.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner made history once again as the first athlete to be honored with the Fashion Icon honor at the CFDA Awards. On the red carpet, she said her 6-year-old daughter Olympia also loves getting dressed up.
Not only has William always served standout looks on and off the court, but in 2018 she launched S by Serena, a collection of stylish and comfortable dresses, bodysuits and activewear for women, plus some unisex and youth items as well. She has also collaborated with Nike and HSN over the years.
Williams retired from tennis in September 2022. She and her husband welcomed their second child this past August.
