Salma Hayek is making hearts skip a beat at the 2023 Met Gala.
The Eternals actor showed up on the carpeted steps inn an entirely red-hot Gucci ball gown. The ensemble consisted of a glossy red bustier with off-the-shoulder pearl straps, as well as a sparkling crimson skirt made up of ruffled tiers. The voluminous skirt further upped the ante with a sheer lace underlay at the center, which gave a peek at Hayek’s matching red platform pumps. For one last final red accent, she wore her hair in a low ponytail sectioned off by three large red rosettes.
And her accessories were just as glamorous as the rest of her outfit. For the evening, Salma wore glittering diamond jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.
The actor is no stranger to Met Gala dressing, having attended six times throughout her decades-spanning career.
She made her debut at the star-studded affair in 1997, when she turned heads in a black figure-hugging dress with an extreme hip-high leg slit. The last time Salma attended the Gala was in 2019, when she wore a glittering gold Gucci gown.
This year’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” pays homage to the life and legacy of the late Chanel creative director.
The Costume Institute describes the spring 2023 exhibition as an exploration of “the work of Karl Lagerfeld. Focusing on the designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed in aesthetic themes that appear time and again in his fashions from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019, the show will spotlight the German-born designer’s unique working methodology.”
The exhibition will additionally showcase about 150 of Lagerfeld’s designs, as well as some of his sketches, both of which “underscore his complex creative process and the collaborative relationships with his premières, or head seamstresses.
