Priyanka Chopra Jonas hit the “pink carpet” on Wednesday night in celebration of the Victoria’s Secret World Tour fashion video. Held at the Manhattan Center, the event marked the debut of the brand’s new fashion show format and era of championing diversity and inclusion. “The Tour” features 20 creatives from four cities — Bogotá, Colombia; Lagos; London; and Tokyo — who collaborated on bespoke designs.
“The brand comes from a tumultuous history, for sure,” said Chopra, commending the brand’s recent pivot. Chopra signed on as a brand ambassador in 2021. “There was a time when the brand told people what women should look like, and I think now what they’re trying to do is champion people and individuals to be as they are,” she added. “Especially with this VS collective that you’ll see, it’s individuals from around the world and they’re creating the art that they want to create. There’s creative freedom there, and I’m so excited to see that.”
The actress, only in town for one night, donned the unofficial dress code of the evening: lingerie. She wore a black lingerie set under a full-length sheer Giambattista Valli gown.
Like many in the crowd, Victoria’s Secret was a formative brand presence for Chopra. “I turned 16, and I remember my whole family was around me,” said the actress. “For my 16th birthday, my aunt bought me my first Victoria’s Secret lingerie pair. It was in front of my parents and everyone and I was most mortified at 16 to be like, ‘this is lace!’ Kept it, wore it — many, many times over.”
The party also featured a surprise performance by rapper Doechii and Colombian singer Goyo.
