Met Gala fashion: Dijanna Mulhearn breaks down the best and most famous celebrity dresses and looks in the event’s history

In 1974, the theme was ‘Romantic and Glamorous Hollywood Design’ and Cher arrived in this mind-boggling body suit.

This was one of the first Met Galas to have a theme, to be held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and to include high-profile celebrities on the guest list.

Cher’s edgy bodysuit and her mere attendance set the stage for the boundary-pushing fashion and star power that would come to define the event.

“All eyes are on Cher in a sheer figure hugging Bob Mackie jumpsuit featuring strategically placed sequins and feather trim,” Mulhearn says
