When we sat down on a busy Friday afternoon at Bótani Cafe in Bed-Stuy (a who’s who haunt for the neighborhood’s creative types), Carlos is here to talk about her latest endeavor: the leveled-up, CashApp-backed production of her Instagram Live series turned official podcast, Your Favorite Auntie. When she first launched it at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series allowed Carlos to connect with industry friends to talk pop culture and fashion, but just served as a chance for friendly check-ins, too. At its core, Your Favorite Auntie is part advice show, part digital kiki, a way for Carlos to help steer the cultural conversation—something she believes has been missing in the podcasting space.
