While her Gossip Girl character, Serena van der Woodsen, was usually gallivanting on the Upper East Side, last night, Blake Lively was spotted downtown—heading to dinner at Carbone with her It Ends with Us co-stars Isabela Ferrer and Hasan Minhaj.

Enjoying a night out with friends, Blake Lively’s glamorous look was still very Serena-coded, albeit a more 2024 version of something the iconic prep school It girl would wear. Enter a dressed-up version of the Canadian tuxedo.
For her night out with friends, Lively wore a denim mini dress awash in sparkly studs, making the piece more downtown NYC than small town rodeo. The star piled on a denim trench overtop; an unexpected take on an evening coat. Combined, the two different washes had just the right amount of contrast. Of course, her Chanel crossbody bag and sky-high stilettos also helped make the ensemble feel superstar-worthy. To top the whole look off was a selection of chunky gold jewelry. Blake Lively’s picked included a handful of rings + a chain link neckpiece. Beautifully bronzed skin, a hint of coral blush, glossy lips and windswept open blonde locks completed her night out ensemble.

Blake Lively’s approach of the outfit—combining things that shouldn’t work well together, but somehow do—proved that a little piece of Serena will forever live on in the actress’s wardrobe. I mean, remember when she paired zebra print with plaid?
