For the first time ever, Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky walked the red carpet together, and the musician’s ensemble did not disappoint.
When it comes to red carpet dressing, Lady Gaga always fully commits to the look—whether she’s dressed in an avant-garde design made of car parts, or an Old Hollywood-style Valentino gown. It’s only natural, then, that the actor and singer brought her signature fashion drama to the Venice Film Festival yesterday. In town to promote Joker: Folie à Deux alongside co-star Joaquin Phoenix, Gaga hit the step and repeat with her signature “Mother Monster” style in tow. The dark romance! That headpiece! Now this is a statement look. And even better yet, she and fiancé Michael Polansky walked as a unit, marking their first red carpet appearance together.
Gaga chose a back sculptural design by Dior; The riff on a classic gown featured a plunging neckline and full, scalloped skirt. That hemline is big—it takes up space and demands a star of Gaga’s magnitude to pull it off. As does her theatrical lace headpiece, which was created by the master milliner Philip Treacy (from his fall 2001 couture collection, no less). For jewels, meanwhile, the star wore shimmering pieces by Tiffany & Co. Gaga wore Tiffany’s platinum and 18-karat yellow gold necklace with diamonds, as well as label’s platinum and diamond earrings, and the Victoria bracelet in platinum and diamonds.
Sure, the Venice Film Festival has delivered plenty of standout looks all week—but Gaga’s commitment to turning heads and serving a moment proves she’s in a league of her own. And the best part? We still have a whole Joker press tour to look forward to. This is only the beginning. Bring it on, and put your paws up—we are so back!
