Katie Holmes Goes on an Errand Run in Sweatpants and Sneakers

The reason we’re so in love with Katie Holmes’s off-duty style is that it’s easy, cozy, and still, somehow, chic—even when it includes sweatpants.

The actor and director stepped out for an errand run in New York City this week wearing a relaxed and subtly colorful ensemble. It consisted of an oversize T-shirt in a light pink hue, purplish-brown sweatpants, and recycled mesh sneakers with an embroidered design in various pastel tones by Chloé. She wore long purple socks with the shoes, and tied a fuzzy tan sweater around her waist—very 2000s.

The star of Broadway’s The Wanderers additionally carried a slouchy leather mustard-yellow shoulder bag and wore black elongated sunglasses by Dezi. Her hair was styled in a half-up, half-down ’do, and she seemed to wear no makeup.

Holmes is all about the bagginess and slouch. Earlier this month, she attended the Chanel Tribeca Festival Women’s Lunch in New York City in a white tee and a pair of loose-fitting light-wash jeans printed with faint white polka dots and Chanel’s CC logo.

And in May, she arrived at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in an hourglass linen blazer over a plain white T-shirt and styled with a matching pair of khaki wide-leg trousers.

Holmes spoke to Bazaar.com last year about her approach to fashion—which she really got into once she entered Hollywood—and her favorite closet staples. “I love my vintage T-shirts,” she said. “They’re so yummy. They’re a little dirty, a little stained or whatever, and that’s me.”
