English fashion model Jean Campbell has recalled the day when she learned she had been dropped from a major fashion brand’s campaign because they thought she was “too big”.
The 25-year-old, who has modelled for the likes of Burberry and Louis Vuitton, took to Instagram to share a picture of herself on the day she learned the job had been cancelled.

In it, she stands, looking forlorn, in her underwear and a pair of black heels.
“Here’s a photo of me late at night in my underwear having been cancelled from a job by a huge brand for being TOO BIG,” she wrote.
“At the time it made me feel pretty worthless.
“I think the idea that this is too big is shocking to say the least.
“But looking back, I feel compassion for how I felt as I believed as it was coming from people with such vision and influence.
“Today I know how unhealthy and dysfunctional that is.
“Now I can say with confidence that there is no greater beauty than love.
“The sadness in my eyes is a result of how disempowered this made me feel and how reductive it is to measure ‘beauty’ by size.
“It’s an inside job, no matter what size you are.”
Campbell’s post struck a chord with many, including other high-profile models such as Cara Delevingne and Naomi Campbell.

“I think one of the most irresponsible points here is that the agents feel the need to share the ‘feedback’ from the clients with the models,” added one former model.
