Earlier this month, Huda Kattan launched her Huda Beauty Ube collection – a range of electric lilac makeup, celebrated through an exclusive purple-themed event and performance by American singer, Kehlani. The Dubai-based beauty mogul is now wrapping up January with the release of her newest project: Huda Hotline, a raw and unfiltered podcast, complementing her cosmetics brand with a focus on inner beauty. Launching on January 30, the first episodes of Huda Hotline will explore subjects such as breaking through traditional beauty standards, overcoming failure, finding motivation and hustle culture.
Kattan tells Vogue Arabia that she has been working on this project since 2021. “I’ve talked openly about a lot of serious things in past interviews, like my issues with self-love and self-sabotage, and I’ve always had people message asking if I can talk more about them, and do a podcast to share stories and advice,” she shares. “Now is the perfect time – because I feel like my community needs it.”
As an entrepreneur, mother and influencer in her own right, Kattan she feels a sense of responsibility for her wider community online, her team, her family and also, her friends. “There’s a lot going on in the world, and if I can be a voice to support people, I want to do that,” she says. Huda Hotline offers a medium for her to connect with her fans and followers on a deeper level, while demystifying topics surrounding entrepreneurship, social media and beauty.
“I am somebody who craves the truth,” says Kattan. “I don’t like fluff, I like the straight, honest truth. And I think my community feels the same way.” She points out that social media – particularly Instagram, has normalised showcasing perfectly-orchestrated lives, which are often far from reality. “We all want those truths in a world where we’re constantly being sold this perfect lie.”
