Wayuu Taya Foundation
The Wayuu Taya Foundation brought together the fashion elite at the Donna Karan-owned Urban Zen in New York City. Celebrating the foundation’s 20-year anniversary, it featured a conversation with Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and performances from Sting and Sarah McLachlan. Carolina Herrara was an honoree, wearing a glitzy two piece from her latest collection.
Fashion world luminaries like Iman, Nicole Miller, and Omar Hernandez were in attendance. The foundation’s founder Patricia Velasquez said “This is a time of much conflict around the world and what we see is that our homes and homelands are so very important to each of us. Migration is a human right, but it is equally important to create conditions that allow individuals to thrive in their homeland; and that is what Wayuu Taya has been striving for.”
