While Dubai Fashion Week continues to set a new precedent for fashion in the region another exciting fashion extravaganza is on the horizon – the inaugural Riyadh Fashion Week. The four-day affair is expected to be a more than worthy addition to the international fashion calendar as it prepares to honor Saudi Arabia‘s cultural and creative expression inspired by its past and the future.
Running from October 20 to 23, the event hopes to redefine how Saudi fashion is viewed by celebrating local creatives and sustainable craftsmanship. Hosted by the Saudi Fashion Commission the first Riyadh Fashion Week will kick off with a highly anticipated show by a yet-to-be-revealed designer in a location that will soon be announced. The second day will present intricate and one-of-a-kind couture and bridal collections while the following two days see an array of menswear and womenswear brands on the runway.
Saudi couturiers may already have a reputation for dramatic opulence and grandeur while designers from the Kingdom earn accolades for producing high-end bespoke pieces but this fashion week allows them to showcase these expertise to a much wider audience. On the schedule, guests will find both emerging and established brands such as Adnan Akbar, Tima Abid, Yousef Akbar, Atelier Hekayat, and many more.
Mirroring Saudi Arabia’s commitment to embracing the future while staying true to its roots this celebration of local fashion and culture will be held in Riyadh’s emerging new hotspot, King Abdullah Financial District. In addition to the runway shows the event will also feature a dedicated showroom where buyers will have the chance to view the collections, including accessories and jewelry. For those who cannot make it to Riyadh in time, there is no need to worry, the event will be accessible to all via live stream.
