Dua Lipa is a star student at the Jane Birkin School of Bag Decoration. Take a closer look at the musician‘s black Hermès Birkin, which she bedazzled with statement-making additions.
In late November, the last time we saw Dua Lipa toting her Hermès bag around town, she was merely a purse decor novice, but in the month or so since that sighting, Lipa has shot to the top of her class.
The “Houdini” singer stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers and later headed to the airport carrying a heavily ornamented black Hermès Birkin with black hardware. She affixed more baubles to the bag, adding to what was once a small collection of charms. Adding to the eclectic feel, she looped an Hermès Les Murmures de la Foret twilly scarf around the handle.
The rest of Lipa’s outfit was perfectly in-line with her whimsically accessorized accessory. Clad in a simple black hooded coat and black sweatpants, she dressed up this neutral base with colorful accessories—not unlike her gussied up black purse. A bright orange scarf was slung around her neck; on her feet, she wore ankle-high, fur-lined Ugg x Palace Tasman slippers complete with funky appliquéd patches.
Dua Lipa isn’t the only star to decorate their Birkin as of late. While promoting her film, Eileen, Anne Hathaway carried a Birkin adorned with a twilly scarf and pegasus charm. Not unlike Dua, Anne paired her covet-worthy bag with cozy layers, opting for a camel Michael Kors Collection coat with an exaggerated shawl collar, a crisp white button-down, black Proenza Schouler over-the-knee boots, and a pair of Krewe aviators.
While both women may still have a long way to go until they reach the level of Jane Birkin’s legendary bag, it’s safe to say that they’re well on their way.
