In the two weeks since Netflix launched its docuseries on the rise of the Beckham brand, there has been a culture-wide revisiting of David and Victoria’s ’00s courtship. Much of this has revolved around their pre-stylist fashions: the head-to-toe leathers, the Robin Hood-themed nuptials, and all the high-shine suits, which helped to trademark their romance just as much as the Emporio Armani deals.
Beyond athleticism and cooking pasta, this is something Posh and Becks seem to have passed onto their children. While middle-child Romeo shaved his head in an explicit homage to his dad’s Action Man buzz cut, Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz have learnt to coordinate the outfits they wear in public with an uncanny resemblance to their forebears: all matching denim and leather trench coats.
Aligning themselves further with the Posh and Becks look, last night, Brooklyn wore an open-collared shirt that left his chest tattoos exposed, while Nicola wore tailored cigarette pants (a cornerstone of Victoria’s wardrobe) with a pair of Posh Spice platforms. All this is to say: there is 15 days until Halloween and the Beckham-Peltzs have the opportunity to do something generous with it. A sarong? Perhaps some Gucci leathers? A purple wedding dress? There is an entire archive at their disposal.
