Audemars Piguet Unveils New Miniature Royal Oak Timepieces

Audemars Piguet, the esteemed Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer has unveiled its latest miniature Royal Oak timepieces. Measuring at just 23mm in stunning 18-carat yellow, white, and pink gold, and ensuring over seven years of battery life, the new pieces are as reliable as they are beautiful.  The Mini Oak collection reimagines the smallest Royal Oak ever made in 1997 by refining its proportions, architecture, design, and performance to suit today’s tastes.

Inspired by a traditional Florentine jewelry technique, the Frosted Gold finish was revived in 2016 by jewelry designer Carolina Bucci and tweaked by Audemars Piguet employees for use on the company’s clocks. The gold surface is given a dazzling, gemstone-like appearance by making tiny indentations on its surface with a tool that has a diamond tip. The dial of these delicate watches features a jewelry-inspired tone-on-tone Petite Tapisserie pattern, which enhances the shimmering effect of the frosted gold case and bracelet. The luminous dial is detailed with gold hour markers that match the case color and are filled with glowing material for visibility in the dark.

“These mini creations pay tribute not only to Audemars Piguet’s long tradition of miniature and jewelry watches, but also to the women who have left their mark on the history of the brand, including Jacqueline Dimier to whom we owe the first Royal Oak for women, and Carolina Bucci, the mastermind behind the Frosted Gold finish,” says Audemars Piguet’s Chief Executive Officer, IIaria Resta.
