The cyclical appointment of these powerhouses (or in some cases, their reappointment at a competing maison) has given rise to varying opinions: to some, it represents a lack of stability—to others, an inexhaustible source of individuality, creativity and innovation benefitting the fashion industry at large. Matthieu Blazy at Chanel
Following his time as creative director of Bottega Veneta since 2021, the French-Belgian visionary was appointed artistic director of the storied maison in 2025, succeeding Virginie Viard. His debut collection is slated for September 2025.
Jonathan Anderson, Dior Homme
Confirmed as the new artistic director of Dior menswear in April 2025, the Irish fashion designer succeeded Kim Jones and previously served as creative director of Loewe. His first collection is set to be revealed on June 27, 2025 during Paris Fashion Week Homme.
Demna at Gucci
The former Balenciaga designer was named artistic director of Gucci, taking over from Sabato De Sarno as of July 2025.
Dario Vitale at Versace
In the wake of Donatella Versace’s departure as chief creative officer from her own label after 27 years, the Naples-born designer was announced as her successor as of April 2025. The news coincides with Prada’s acquisition of Versace, and his debut collection is expected to be unveiled during Milan Fashion Week in September 2025.
Michael Rider at Celine
The newly appointed creative director of Celine, formerly at Ralph Lauren, will commence his tenure as of July 6, 2025, taking over from Hedi Slimane. His first collection is set to be unveiled during the Fall 2025 couture season.
