Another fashion season has arrived in full force and, once again, it was a delight to follow the main brands at New York Fashion Week (NYFW), which is the epicenter of it all! The city that never sleeps hosted fashion week in freezing weather, but with an energy that warmed the hearts of all the fashionistas present. I was there to check out the shows and the main trends that will dominate the coming season. And what I can tell you is: what I saw was breathtaking!
The shows were impeccable, with productions that revealed a strong presence of looks in neutral tones, but with a touch of sparkle, a mix of prints and other details ranging from beige to burgundy, black and even olive green. The palette was clean, but super elegant and timeless. And of course I couldn’t help but get into the mood of these tones, so I combined them with flowy silhouettes for comfortable looks that are perfect for colder days.
Slits undoubtedly dominated my choices! The pieces that most caught my eye were from MONSE and Michael Kors, the first paired with knee-high boots and the second with a classic pump. The slits were deep and on the front of the pieces, but they revealed just enough, making the looks super sensual and elegant at the same time, giving a daring touch to formal looks.
Another highlight were the textured coats that added volume and comfort to the looks. On the runway, the layers of flexible fabrics were a true masterpiece of the concept of “dressing for the cold in style”. Attention to detail was another hallmark of the season, with fabrics with discreet sparkle and even fur, feathers and transparency appearing in some collections, such as Prabal Gurung’s line, which featured long dresses in shades of petrol green, grey and navy blue, with modern drapes and embroidery.
