Amid a picturesque oasis city in Saudi Arabia, Ducasse in AlUla launches as a limited-time dining experience, merging French cuisine with traditional flavours of the kingdom. French-born Monégasque chef Alain Ducasse is one of the world’s top-ranked chefs, and his London restaurant, Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, holds three Michelin stars. We caught up with him to discuss the spirit of Saudi and how AlUla’s natural landscape inspire his new dishes:
What makes AlUla the perfect location for your limited-edition dining experience?
AlUla is a relatively new destination, but it has already made an impact with global travellers for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and serene ambiance. I felt that this extraordinary setting was the perfect canvas for me to take on a new and exciting culinary challenge, which came to fruition with Ducasse in AlUla.
Here, I was given a blank slate to create and explore new flavours, while merging the essence of this ancient location with the techniques of French gastronomy. We have worked to ensure the dining experience is a well-rounded sensory journey, where each dish tells a story of the oasis and its produce. My vision is to contribute to AlUla’s emergence as a global gastronomic destination, championing its natural abundance and cultural depth.
